So you've read about the extensive history of biking up until now. But what does the future hold in store for biking? Here is my opinion on the topic: Bikes will probably become much lighter and easier to maneuver, not that they are currently difficult, but that they will improve as time goes on. The prospect of adding a system to bicycles that does not power the bike by human power (such as a motor) is irrelevant for several reasons. First of all, this would make bikes more like motorcycles, as they would not be powered only by pedaling (though motorcycles involve no pedaling at all). What makes a bicycle a bicycle is that it is human-fuelled transport. Perhaps a breakthrough in technology will result in the creation of a very light and strong material that can be used to reduce the weight of mountain bikes, which are currently quite heavy.
This list of ideas could go on forever, so hopefully you get the gist of this page. Thanks for reading about the history of biking!
